May Charity Tournament Recap!
The month of May was an exciting one for Noob Esports and the biggest highlight was the successful May Charity Tournament.
Noob is known for hosting great Valorant tournaments, where the community gets involved to have some fun and test their skills. This tournament was in partnership with Headspace, Australia’s leading youth foundation in support for mental health, to raise awareness and money for the great cause.
The tournament took hard work and dedication to bring to life, setting dates, getting production and casters, officials involved and of course, opening to teams to enter. Our social media and content manager StrawberryQuartz worked hard with Headspace, our CEO and the operations team to bring this tournament to life.
The tournament was set to run over two weeks, Thursday-Saturday with several games played each day. The first week was set for round robins, and the second week for playoffs and finals. The tournament was open to teams of any skill level, anyone could enter with friends, or an org, we didn’t mind!
At the end of registration, we had eleven amazing teams entered and ready to go.
Let’s start this recap off by introducing all the teams.
Aegis, The New Dogs In Town (previously Illicit Reign ACAD), Divine, Chicken Jockey (previously Illicit Reign), MQU Esports, TXG, Chill Ragers, Fearless, The God Squad, Rapid GC and Razzymers. These were the wonderful teams that entered and played during this tournament. To raise awareness and stream some epic gameplay, several matches from each night were selected to be live streamed on the Noob Esports Twitch Channel.
This moves us into our amazing list of staff that helped bring this event to life.

With Chicken Jockey and Divine getting a bye for the first day of playoffs, securing their first and second place positions and our top 3-6 teams preparing to play in the semi finals.
Our finals week started with two games, our 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th place teams preparing to play and make it to the semi finals.
Our first game was MQU vs Aegis, with MQU taking the win. New Dogs in Town vs TXG, Dogs sadly had forfeit their game.
Our next day games, the semi finals, drawing super close to the finale, we had another two games, Divine vs TXG with Divine sadly forfeiting their game, making TXG the first team into the finals. The other game on the 30th was played by MQU versus Chicken Jockey, with MQU taking the win in the end and moving onto the finals.
Our final day and games were a best of 3 games, with MQU versus TXG. Map one was played on Lotus with MQU winning 13-11. The second game, another close one, went to TXG 13-8. Our final and deciding game was on Pearl, with MQU winning the overall tournament with an astonishing score of 13-4.
During the course of the tournament, a Tiltify campaign was up and running, taking donations over the two weeks. This campaign was posted to all socials, linked on the streams, and even some of the teams shared it around to maximise possible donations.
With all proceeds going to Headspace at the end of the two weeks, we raised an astonishing $1,100!! Every donation brought us to this amount, and it will go a long way with helping youth support for mental health.
We would love to take the opportunity to thank everyone involved, from those who watched each night, to the players who made it possible, to the staff who helped make everything work, to the community and of course, to Headspace! Noob Esports is proud to be an organisation that helps raise awareness while creating opportunity and we are blown away by the support and accomplishments of this tournament.
Our final step in this tournament process was to acknowledge some of our players by awarding community awards. With 4 awards available, our staff, players and community kept an eye out for the things that stood out. Biggest underdog, who shone in a moment when the team needed it most, someone who may have been bottom frag, or the first picked off in several rounds coming to shine and show not to count them out. Biggest clutch, when the team is about to lose the round, all seems lost, a player who took their chances and secured the round against the odds. Best timing, its in the name, a timing whether it be peeking at the right moment, missing someone who walks past, this one is for a rare moment. Biggest whiff, a player who took their shot, or multiple, and missed them all!
These awards were chosen from community vote, and from watching clips and gameplay. Our biggest underdog went to SilentPH from TXG, we noticed you! Biggest clutch went to Zeast from MQU, who pulled out some amazing gameplay, beat the odds and clutched up for their team. Best timing went to CrayZ from Fearless, passing someone in perfect time through the smoke, we almost missed it too!! Biggest whiff also goes to CrayZ who showed us it’s okay, you miss every shot you don’t take, and sometimes you miss the ones you do.
This brings us to the end of the May Charity Tournament recap. Once again, we are so grateful to everyone involved. If you missed any of the streamed games, head to our Twitch to watch the VOD’s, and head to our X page for detailed graphics and nightly recaps of this tournament.
We cannot wait to see what June brings us<3
