LPL Open Qualifier Recap

LPL Open Qualifiers Split 2 commenced on the 10th of June. Both Noob Esports teams were ready and enrolled, our Game Changers team with a solidified core 5, Estranger recently moving to full time core, and our Valorant team who have been working hard with their new coach.

Our teams went into these games with the expectation to try their best and hope for great outcomes. The first night, Tuesday 10th of June, both of our teams were given a bye, meaning no games and an automatic win through to the next day. To keep prepared and ready, with no games scheduled, the teams scrimmed against each other. We love when our teams work together to practice their skills and keep their brains ready and locked in.

11th of June began the first set of games played for both teams. The games were a best of three bracket, meaning teams had to win two games to move onto the next night. Our Game Changers team went up against Surf. GC team started on Ascent, and with high tensions, they tried their best but ultimately ended the first map on a loss, 3-13. Second map was Pearl, do or die. Our GC team knew  they would have to fight harder, with the solidified core 5 not having as much time to prepare as other teams. They gave a valiant effort, but match two results in a loss, 3-13. Our GC team took this loss in stride, using it as an opportunity to see what they need to work on, what they did well and what kind of teams they’ll be facing in the Game Changers circuit. We are so very proud of their efforts and know they’ll be ready for the next challenge.

Our Valorant roster went into games on the 11th of June as well, versus NX. Their first map was Lotus. The boys went in with a game plan and fingers crossed. Although their communication was excellent, and they kept the other team on their toes, the first game resulted in a close loss 9-13. The team knew they needed to bring their best, and that is what they did in the next game. Pearl was a close one going almost round for round, with the boys keeping their chins high and putting their all into the game. The second game resulted in a loss, 7-13, but this team showed they were there to bring it, making sure other teams knew they would be the ones to keep an eye on for the next circuit. We are so happy to see the improvement in this team, even with their loss, they get better and stronger with every game.

Overall, LPL open quals was a test to our teams, but they proved they can take a loss and still come out with great mindsets and a sense of hope for their next challenges. We are so proud of our teams for entering and giving the qualifiers their best shot. We know they’ll only come back stronger in the OCE scene.
