Wave OCE Proteus Tournament

Wave OCE Proteus is Wave’s inaugural tournament featuring a $5,000 prize pool and 16 teams. Running between 4th September - 28th September, teams will have the opportunity to showcase their talent and partake in a highly competitive event.

Noob Esports entered this tournament with the Valorant Roster. Once we were locked in to participate we awaited the WAVE stream which would announce groups and brackets. The sixteen teams were divided into four groups of four for the group stage, single game elimination.

Noob Esports was one of the last teams to be drawn, ending in group D with the teams: Elite 5, OG, and Club penguin. Our first game was set for the 5th of September, at 7:30, versus Club Penguin. The games were live streamed for the community to join and cheer on their teams!

The team showed up early, warm and ready for the challenge. With some astonishing plays, great teamwork, and several edge of the seat clutches, Noob won on Haven 13-9. This moved us into the next game. OG had already won their game against Elite 5, meaning they would be our next opponent.

In another single elim, at 8:30, live streamed, we versed OG. Ascent, a well known map by all, in the competitive pool since the beginning, this was sure to be an interesting one. Noob Esports started off the game rough, and without the beginning momentum, OG keep their lead and eventually won the game. Ending on a 13-6 Loss.

But this was not the end for Noob, moving onto the finals of the lower elimination bracket. Winning the lower bracket meant a spot in the finals. The first game was played by E5 vs Club Penguin, the winner of that game moving into verse Noob. E5 held their own and smashed the game. On the 7th at 6:30, live streamed once more, Noob played against E5 in a best of three elimination. These games were do or die.

The first game was played on Ascent, with the Noob team throwing themselves into the games, winning with an astonishing 13-4. The second game was played on Haven, a map we had a previous win on in this tournament. This game was a wild one, with the first half of the game almost being neck and neck. Elite 5 managed to find their groove in the second half, winning against Noob 13-6.

This moves us into the third and final decider game. Playing on Lotus and on the edge of all our seats, this game was not for Noob. With an unfortunate 2-13 loss, Elite 5 moved on into the next bracket, while Noob Esports was out of the tournament.

Noob Esports Valorant roster did their best throughout their time in the Proteus tournament, but unfortunately were unsuccessful. It did highlight key areas for the team and coach on where to focus for improvement, and the team always take the losses as opportunities to learn. We are so proud of the team for their participation and the next challenge will be soon to come!
